Things You Do For Love

In my case, things I would do for love is camping. Yes, you can read my experience on camping trip here.

When you love someone, you are willing to do anything to make that person happy. Some of you may change your appearance, personality and some even change their religions to declare their love.

Especially in a marriage you would do things to make your husband/wife happy, like trying to do and liking what the other enjoys to do. Who I am talking about marriage and stuff, I've only been married for 2 years and there are many more years to come but I learn everyday that do something for your loved one is actually gives you satisfaction and make you content. The idea of making him happy is making me happy although I don't really like it and I was whinging about it on the internet like what I just did :).

This post inspired by Mr. Husband who criticized my previous post as being too negative about camping. He just wants me to do something that he likes to do. Yes, my first experience wasn't a pleasant one but we can learn from the mistake and next time will do better. And of course I want to thank my good friends The Reynolds who went out with us although Huyen doesn't like the idea of being in a boat on a rough ocean which I perfectly understand because I have the same feeling too. Didn't I say that I'm the biggest wuss in the world?.

I understand what Mr. Husband is trying to do, he wants me to be able to enjoy thing that he enjoys to do. He wants to share the experience with me, together. Like we experience every day, every night together.

There is nothing wrong with that, it's just he has to convince and persuade me even more that camping is fun. I can't convert to liking and enjoy camping in just after one trip, it's all about the process to actually like and enjoy it at the end.

And what would you do for LOVE?

Things Babies Born in 2011 Will Never Know

I stumbled upon this article and I thinks it's quite true and make sense, but again you decide and it's up to you to educate your children about these stuff.

Huffington Post recently put up a story called You're Out: 20 Things That Became Obsolete This Decade. It's a great retrospective on the technology leaps we've made since the new century began, and it got me thinking about the difference today's technology will make in the lives of tomorrow's kids.

I've used some of their ideas and added some of my own to make the list below: Do you think kids born in 2011 will recognize any of the following?

Video tape: Starting this year, the news stories we produce here at Money Talks have all been shot, edited, and distributed to TV stations without ever being on any kind of tape. Not only that, the tape-less broadcast camera we use today offers much higher quality than anything that could have been imagined 10 years ago -- and cost less than the lens on the camera we were using previously.

Travel agents: While not dead today, this profession is one of many that's been decimated by the Internet. When it's time for their honeymoon, will those born in 2011 be able to find one?

The separation of work and home: When you're carrying an email-equipped computer in your pocket, it's not just your friends who can find you -- so can your boss. For kids born this year, the wall between office and home will be blurry indeed.

Books, magazines, and newspapers: Like video tape, words written on dead trees are on their way out. Sure, there may be books -- but for those born today, stores that exist solely to sell them will be as numerous as record stores are now.

Movie rental stores: You actually got in your car and drove someplace just to rent a movie?

What's Behind the Trend of Women Dating Younger Men?

Exploring the modern coupling phenomenon

There appears to be a trend of older women dating younger men, notably illustrated by celebrity couples including Demi Moore and Aston Kutcher, Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry, and the most recent fling between 48-year-old Linda Hogan and 19-year-old Charlie Hill. According to a study of 50,000 women daters over 30, conducted by an online dating site in 2007, more than one-third of the subjects showed interest in men at least 5 years younger. And in 2003, an AARP survey revealed 34 percent of 3,500 women (between ages 40 and 69) dated men who are 10 or more years younger than themselves. This trend appears to be shocking to some people, but I don't find it so unusual.

Socially, there's a role reversal of sorts going on, women are more powerful now than ever before and may want men who are younger, and perhaps, more flexible; men who can handle it if the woman's career and lifestyle takes priority over their own. Media portrayals in "Sex and the City" (like movie characters Smith Jerrod and Samantha Jones) and "Desperate Housewives" are also showing women that dates don't have to be older. Women who have high-powered careers -- or a well-developed self-image -- are exercising more choice. Women who have been divorced and are established single moms may enjoy having a playmate, someone to have fun with; who doesn't try to control her.

Can these older woman/younger man relationships last?

I have seen many relationships succeed with this kind of older woman/younger man scenario. The media focuses on the age difference, but what really makes or breaks the relationship is how well the couple can form a partnership that works.

Age difference is an adolescent worry: When you're a teenager, an age difference of even two or three years makes a vast difference in your experience and your outlook on life. Such a difference can interfere with communication, life goals, outlook, and relationship experience. In addition, for the young, the social reaction to such a relationship is often negative. If one partner is underage, a sexual relationship is even against the law.

But, as you get older, life experience and emotional growth help to equalize your relationship skills and resources. A 10-year or more difference in your ages makes little difference in how well you can conduct your relationship.

Don't focus on an arbitrary numbers difference in your ages. If you are getting along, you have good communication and problem solving, and you love each other, that's a precious thing, and far more important than any age difference could be. If other people have a problem with it, let it be their problem.

Whether or not a relationship is healthy is not determined by age differences, but by the interaction between the partners. A 10-year difference is not too difficult to bridge, but a 20-year differences or more in age can lead to some difficulties as the partners get older. For example, the younger partner may mature and reconsider his or her choices, or an older partner may confront aging problems much sooner. But, as long as both parties are adult, and the couple has talked about their age difference and the future possibilities, I don't make judgments about their respective ages.

Dealing with the generation gap

There are healthy and unhealthy reasons to date someone of a different generation.
One inappropriate motivation for dating a younger person is fear of aging on the older person's part. A younger partner isn't going to reverse the aging process or protect you from old age. Obviously, a man or woman who dates someone as young as his or her children is going to run into some social opposition, but the differences that can cause the biggest problems within the couple's relationship are differing maturity levels.

As more and more women choose younger partners for relationships, the question arises: Are women in their late 30s and early 40s likely to be successful with partners who are 10 to 15 years younger than themselves?

Success in these relationships depends on what the motivations of both people are. Some older people feel younger at heart than their contemporaries and like to date people who are as active as they are. Chronological age doesn't always reflect either physical capability or emotional maturity. Sometimes an age difference creates a mentoring relationship the older person advises the younger one on life or career. This can backfire if and when the younger person decides he or she has learned enough, and wants to move on.

If you're asking: "Is it OK for me to have a partner who is much older or younger than I am?" You'll do better off if you forget about your ages and concentrate on whether the relationship works for both of you, or not. What really makes a romantic relationship succeed is the emotional connection.

The Gruen Transfer

I really hope that Indonesia can come up with something like this, I don't know why every time we have talk show for ads it always turn out to be cheesy :)

In shopping mall design, the Gruen transfer refers to the moment when consumers respond to "scripted disorientation" cues in the environment. It is named for Austrian architect Victor Gruen (who disavowed such manipulative techniques) and lately popularized by Douglas Rushkoff.

Here are some example of interesting malls.

Ok, back to The Gruen Transfer TV show, here is about the show:

The Gruen Transfer (TGT) is a show about advertising, how it works, and how it works on us. Hosted by the inimitable Wil Anderson, TGT will decode and defuse the commercial messages that swirl through our lives, with the help of a panel of ad industry experts.

Each week, Wil is joined by some of the best and brightest minds of the advertising industry, experts prepared to share the ideas and insights that drive them.

Guests on the program face a series of challenges designed to show the thought processes - and, often, the brilliance - of advertising, as well as its understanding of who we are and what we want. Each week we examine the tactics used to sell a particular product; it could be cars or chocolate or cleaning products.

In a segment called 'The Pitch', agencies compete to fulfill an impossible brief. For example, 'make Brendan Nelson a winner'. Elsewhere, 'Consumer's Revenge' allows our audience to participate in the show by making their own ads on this website. The best ads will be played during the show.

The Gruen Transfer is a fast, funny show about advertising that will make you look differently at the constructed world around you. It’s not an expose. It’s not a satire. It’s about truth in advertising. Finally.

The Gruen Transfer is really worth to watch and the host is great, funny (he used to be a comedian and a journalist), smart and cute, uhmm... deadly combination :)

Click here for detail information about the show.

Ok, I sound like giving them free advertising here and I think they have to pay me for free marketing :)).

How to show your support for Muslim extremism?

Just wear the black-and-white scarf, and people will think that you are giving your support for the Muslim extremism.

That was what happened to Rachel Ray on the Dunkin Donuts Advertisement.

Conservative blog says black-and-white scarf is symbol of support for Muslim extremism.

Dunkin' Donuts has pulled an online advertisement featuring celebrity chef Rachael Ray after criticism from conservative U.S. bloggers over her choice of scarf.

Ray, while promoting an iced coffee, was wearing a black-and-white scarf, similar to the kaffiyeh, a scarf commonly worn in the Middle East.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez once donned a kaffiyeh in a gesture of solidarity with Palestinians.

Critics, including conservative commentator Michelle Malkin, argued that Ray should not be wearing such a scarf because, they said, it has come to symbolize Muslim extremism and terrorism.

The kaffiyeh "has come to symbolize murderous Palestinian jihad," Malkin said in her blog last week.

"Popularized by Yasser Arafat and a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos, the apparel has been mainstreamed by both ignorant [and not-so-ignorant] fashion designers, celebrities and left-wing icons."

In the spot, Ray wears the fringed scarf loosely around her neck, while holding an iced coffee and standing in front of trees with pink blossoms.

Read the full story here: Rachael Ray ad pulled after complaints over her scarf

I think this is silly and ridiculous...absolutely ridiculous, since when a scarf become the symbol of support Muslim extremism?

Scarf is just a scarf. Yes it's true that the scarf commonly worn in Middle East but that doesn't mean that whoever worn that scarf are supporting the Muslim extremism.

Scarf is just a scarf, that scarf is just one of an attire for Muslim people.

Maybe Americans would be disagree, since they have history of one and that was their biggest nightmare, well it was the world nightmare too and we all hope that thing would not happen again in the future and in anywhere on this planet.

I just hope that they can see things from different perspective.

The Worst Pickup Lines Ever

From cheesy to overused to the downright lame.

The clichés

1. "Did we meet before? You look familiar."

2. "How do you feel about love at first sight?"

3. "Excuse me, are you a model?"

4. "What's your sign?"

5. "You look like you're waiting for someone."

6. "Something tells me we have a lot in common. How should we find out?"

7. "Here's my number. What's yours?"

The cheesy

1. "Did I just bump into you? Or did you just bump into me?"

2. "I'm feeling a little off today. Would you like to turn me on?"

3. "I've lost my phone number. Can I have yours?"

4. "Do you mind if I take you home with me right now?"

5. "I think there's something wrong with my eyes because I can't take them off you."

6. "What does it feel like to be the most beautiful girl in this room?"

7. "Do you have a name or can I call you mine?"

8. "Your legs must be tired because you've been running through my mind all night."

9. "If I get hooked on you, will you hook up with me?"

The failed flattery

1. "You look as cute as your dog!"

2. "Nobody ever says no to me."

3. "All those curves, and me with no brakes."

4. "You remind me of a girl I used to date."

5. "If I told you that you had a great body, would you hold it against me?"

6. "I've never met a woman I couldn't learn to love."

7. "What's a nice girl like you doing in a dirty mind like mine?"

Moral of the story?

Pickup lines don't work, but they're definitely great for a laugh.

I'm not really back yet, but I have a lillte time to escape from the madness.

Smarter ladies have worse sex

BRAINY babes find it harder to have an orgasm – because they are too busy thinking, a study claims.

The German survey found that the more educated a woman was, the less likely it was that she would be satisfied by sex.

In the study 62 per cent of women who had completed their education said they often had problems achieving orgasm.

Only 38 per cent of women with a lower educational qualification said they had such problems.

The study conducted by a German lifestyle website surveyed over 2,000 women between the ages of 18 and 49.

Do you agree with the study's findings? Tell me what you think.

www.youtube.com Blocked

Dear All,

As per official letter issued by Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology of The Republic of Indonesia Number: 84/M.KOMINFO/04/2008, dated April 2, 2008, with the instruction to block access to certain Websites and Blogs containing Fitna movie, our ISP disabling access to www.youtube.com until further notice.

Regards

IT

Above is official email from my IT today, I really wish that our government has smarter way to overcome this problem instead of blocking useful website :((.

Here are list of blocked sites in Indonesia, as of April 2008:
1. YouTube
2. MySpace
3. Metacafe
4. Rapidshare
5. Multiply
6. Liveleak
7. Themoviefitna.com

There are some Indonesians who using internet for their source of income, some are using Multiply for online business.

Does Government think of that before they ban the site? No. They didn't think of the downside for little people.

They should ban the relative content, not the whole sites!

Oh.. I really wish the Indonesian Government can be smarter this time, but I guess I have too high expectation.

Internet Blocking & Regulation

Came across to this article in Indonesia Matters, read below for the full article:

The Indonesian Government efforts to regulate the internet and block access to porn websites.

Cyber Law

On 25th March a new law on information and electronic transactions (UU Informasi Transaksi Elektronik, ITE) was passed by the parliament in Jakarta. Much of the interest in it focuses on what is forbidden by the law, which is set out in Section 8, Articles 27 to 37.

Article 27:
anyone who deliberately and without rights distributes/transmits/makes accessible electronic information/electronic documents with content that

  • violates decency (kesusilaan)
  • involves gambling
  • is libellous
  • is threatening

Article 28 forbids the spreading of lies over the internet (1) and hate speech (2) directed towards particular groups, based on racial, ethnic or religious differences (SARA).

For both articles violations of the law may lead to imprisonment of up to six years and fines up to 1 billion rupiah ($110,000).

Blocking Sites

Muhammad Nuh, the minister for Information, said three methods to block “unhealthy” (pornographic, hateful, violent) sites could be used: [1] [2]

  • educate people to avoid them
  • provide people with “nanny” software to block them
  • restrict the internet access of schools, campuses, offices, etc (involving blocking direct connections from abroad by using a gateway)

These specific measures against porn sites and others are expected to be set out in one or more ministerial edicts, and due to come into effect in April or May. The “nanny” software is already available for download from the Information ministry website.

However he says that the plan to block adult sites is more of a “moral vision” and that the government is limited in what it can do and needs the help of ISP’s and internet cafe operators.

If the ISP’s and warnets only succeed in restricting access [to inappropriate sites] by about 15-20% then that’s okay, the point is we have made an effort to minimalise access.

He said the government intends to make a list of “negative sites” that are meant to be blocked, and that these websites will be those that are pornographic, hateful, or violent. The list will be continually updated and ISP’s and warnets informed of any changes. [3]

Previously Nuh had said that the new law was needed now because the government intends to massively increase the proportion of the population with internet access, particularly in villages.

Download and view UU ITE.

Internet Cafe Raids

In Bogor, West Java, policeman Subur Rahardjo says the police will routinely raid warnets, or public internet cafes, looking for people accessing porn web sites.

He says it will be part of a new campaign against social diseases such as prostitution, liquor drinking, and VCD porn films, and done in support of the the Pornography Law (UU Pornografi), and to make sure the situation was conducive for the coming gubernatorial election in West Java. [4]

And in Bojonegoro, East Java, the police and the regency government intend to coordinate efforts to deal with internet cafes that provide folders of pornographic images on their computers. There are said to be 17 warnets in Bojonegoro, and so far one of these has been caught allowing the storing of porn. [5]

The Partner

The Partner (1997) is a legal/thriller novel by noted American author John Grisham.

The Plot
Patrick S Lanigan, a junior partner in a law firm in Biloxi, Mississippi, gets wind of a scheme to defraud the US Government over a shipbuilding overcharging scheme. His firm is deeply involved in the scam, and they're planning to keep him out of it. He bides his time, secretly collecting evidence and then disappears. A body is later found, identified as his burned in a car crash and is buried under his name.

Six weeks later, $90 million vanishes from the law firm's off-shore bank account, and he is suspected. The search is on...

Four years later, he is discovered living a new life in a small town in Brazil. He is kidnapped and tortured to reveal the location of the money. Before he can reveal it, the FBI is informed and he is rescued and repatriated.

With the FBI and police eager to convict him on numerous charges, Patrick, whilst slowly recovering from horrific injuries, schemes with his lawyer Sandy McDermott, to defend the charges whilst revealing details of the scam

The highlights of the plot are Patrick's foresight that one day he will inevitably be caught, and his immaculate preparation for such a situation. The FBI, the state authorities, his widow and even his lawyer are all at times amazed by the depth of his planning. The beauty of this story is that Patrick defends himself against all the charges, without going to trial, and without spending even a single day in jail. And in the most unexpected twist at the end of the story, the hunted becomes the hunter ....... I can't tell you the ending, you should read this book and I guarantee you will love it and you can't wait to read till the last page!

This is my first Grisham's book. I know I'm soo not cool cos I just read his book now, but hey.. better late than never, no?

I like the twist at the end of the story and the smart planning in this book, and now I'm reading The Testament, and The Brethren is on my next list.

I know I should read Grisham's latest book, but I feel that I need to read his older book first before I move on to his latest book.

Just curious, why he named almost all of his book with "THE"?

Oh my God he's soo cute. We all fall in love with him at the first sight.

What do you guys think of him?

Speechless

The God a.k.a The Dutch has given the words...

meaning:

1. Re-shoot for the whole new story, meaning work from the scratch, back to zero.

2. Additional 1 day shoot, to inject dramatization into the story. Painful shoot days, because you can't control 1.5 years old kid's mood.

3. Involve the God himself for every little step from choosing the props, talent's wardrobe till music reference.

REMARKS: Every Thematic STB will require signature from the God himself and the no 2.

What a day..... *sigh*
